Leadership Development & Congregational Health

The Leadership Development & Congregational Health group serves the church locally, regionally, and globally through collaborative partnerships. Working to help provide ministries resources and leadership education, these partnerships aim to enhance Kingdom expansion, win the lost, develop Christ-centered leaders, and equip disciples through the divinely called, spiritually gifted, culturally diverse congregations, leaders, missionaries, and pastors of the Church of God.

Grounded in the message of Jesus Christ, these ministries include youth, prayer, and compassionate efforts, among others. These ministries seek to help the church live as the body of Christ by answering the call to love God passionately; serve others sacrificially; obey the Great Commandments faithfully (Matt 22:37–39); pursue the Great Commission vigorously (Matt 28:19–20); practice biblical stewardship conscientiously (Matt 6:33); nurture and use its spiritual gifts fruitfully (1 Cor 12:1–7); and live interdependently in unity and holiness (John 17:21–22).

Chaplain Ministries provides ecclesiastical endorsements for military and institutional chaplains; serves as the liaison with other religious endorsing bodies, certifying organizations, and professional organizations associated with clergy doing ministry within specialized settings; provides direct denominational oversight of all active duty endorsed military chaplains; and serves as staff liaison with the Association of Pastoral Care Specialists.

Church Multiplication works to develop partnerships with state and congregational leaders to implement a comprehensive strategy for healthy church growth.

Compassionate Ministries focuses on issues of social justice, worldwide hunger, and disaster relief.

Congregational Health & Growth provides the local church with consultations for church growth, conflict resolution, evangelism revitalization, and links with L.I.V.E. Ministries, and Women in Ministry and Mission.

Leadership Development sponsors youth impact weekends, teacher training, development of leadership skills, and call to ministry.

National Prayer Ministry focuses on calling the church to pray, developing people who pray, strategies for prayer for church-at-large events.

Pastoral Health and Growth focuses on the care of ministers and their families through mentoring, spiritual development, professional enrichment, and networking.

SHAPE (Sustaining Health and Pastoral Excellence) is a ministry initiative designed to encourage and facilitate pastoral health in the Church of God through peer learning groups, life mapping and planning, and study within the context of the five hallmarks: vision, leadership, knowledge, spirituality, and relational connectivity.
